Active Child // Curtis Lane

I'll get back on top of this blog soon, but in the meantime, check these tunes out:

Standout Tracks:
// She Was a Vision
// When Your Love is Safe
// Wilderness

Memoryhouse // These Days (Nico Cover)

This little gem popped up on Memoryhouse's blog, and I had to snatch it up. It's freaking amazing. I ripped and uploaded it a couple days ago and just haven't gotten around to posting it up here 'till now - as I've been too busy listening to it on repeat.

"This was the first song Denise and I ever recorded together, about three or four months before memoryhouse became a dedicated project. It was a spontaneous recording done really late at night, but it had this indelible nervous energy that gave Denise’s voice that extra hint of vulnerability that underpins Browne’s yearning, despondent lyrics so well. These Days ended up being a thesis of sorts for us, whose lyrical themes would go on to figure heavily in our first song, Lately." - Memoryhouse blog

Active Child // She Was a Vision

Figured I'd post more to make up for my short hiatus. Just two tracks on this puppy, but DAMN are they good. They're coming out with a full length in June, and I for one cannot wait. This is some truly atmospheric chillwave/dream pop/ whateverthefuckyouwannacallit.

Standout Tracks:
// She Was a Vision
// Voice of an Old Friend
(aka all of them)

Hypermagic // Collected Recordings

Extremely chill ambient tunes. No real record out to speak of yet, but all the tracks I've compiled here are up for download on their last.fm. It's some magical damn music, and i'm digging it hard. Enjoy dis shiit.

Standout Tracks:
// Pico Blisco
// Death Box Teapot
// A Million See

Letting Up Despite Great Faults // Self-Titled

Soft and beautiful synth fueled shoegaze. They create a sort of uplifting yet melancholy mood that absolutely confounds me, yet tickles me with joy.

Standout Tracks:
// Photograph Shakes
// In Steps
// So Fast: You
// Release

4/14/10

Candy Claws // In The Dream Of The Sea Life

Some absolutely beautiful music! I use the word "dreamy" far too often as i'm too lazy to expand upon what i'm talking about. But goddamnit, it fits motherfucker. This is some dreamy electronic shoegaze, and it's been blowing my mind.

Standout Tracks:
// The Sun Is My Girl
// Not Strange Winged Snail
// Snowy Shores
// Starry Fighter Kite

4/13/10

Small Black // Self Titled

More dreamy electronic pop. Once again I find myself addicted. I've just been in the mood for this kind of shit lately. This band has received more plays than the other stuff i've posted recently, so I suppose that's an indicator of it's quality- if you happen to value my taste. I'd say if you download one thing from this blawg, let it be this album.

Standout Tracks:
// Midnight's House
// Kings of Animals
// Lady in the Wires
// Bad Lover
// Despicable Dogs

4/11/10

Millionyoung // Be So True EP

Here is the other Millionyoung EP I promised. It's just as addicting and dreamy. If you're anything like me you won't be able to stop listening to this shit. Enjoy:

Standout Tracks:
// Cynthia
// Day We Met
// Soft Denial

Millionyoung // Sunndreamm EP

Electronic chillwave goodness (once again) for you today, I just can't get enough of this shit. I'll probably get around to uploading this dudes other EP today or tomorrow, as it happens to be just as amazing.

Standout Tracks:
// Weak Ends
// Youthless
// Sunndreamm

M. Pyres // Consider Me, Ghost

Some extremely chill lo-fi post-folk music for ya this post. I meant to put this up ages ago, but never really got around to it. My posting has become real erratic, and it'll likely continue to be this way; don't make the mistake of thinking i'm done with this shit though. As long as I keep seeing downloads on the things I upload, i'll continue.

Standout Tracks:
// Title Track
// Loud Lights
// Imagists Complex
// A. Ocean_MJA

3/31/10

big spider's back // warped

A dreamy, looping, electronic blessing in a vein similar to Animal Collective. Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.

Standout Tracks:
//Perfect Machine
//Don't Make Me Laugh

1/19/10

the parasails // skylife

Dreamy, hazy, lo-fi tropical goodness from Matt Mondanile, the man behind Ducktails/the guitar player in Real Estate. He's created the musical equivalent of vaguely recalling a dream where your parasailing in calm warm weathers, careless and free.

Standout Tracks:
// Skylife 2
// Skylife 5
// Skylife 7
// Skylife 9

1/18/10

Secret Abuse // Ripeness

Blissful drone noise, that I can only describe as watching the world rip itself apart from afar while in the warmth of an opiate glow. My buddy over at Hell's Angels Book Club introduced me to them, and they are quickly becoming a mainstay in my daily listening habits.

Standout Tracks:
// Eagle Rock Hill
// Joyce

1/17/10

Washed Out // High Times

I'm running on the assumption that most people have Life of Leisure. Well this came out prior to the release of the 12" Life of Leisure. Pretty solid stuff, makes me damn excited to see what else this guy has in store. It's lovely lo-fi dream pop, a sort of blurred dreamy beach new wave sound enveloped in a thick mist of clean noise. Makes me long to be stoned senseless on a beach. Another one of those bands that instantly causes that feeling of nostalgia, like your listening to a missing piece of your past. Makes me miss New Jersey. Enjoy this shit:

Standout Tracks:
// Belong
// Olivia
// Good Luck
// Yeah

Liam the Younger // After the Graveyard // Clear Skies Over Black River

Beautiful lo-fi folk music, and the best part? His two albums are up for free @ http://www.bravemenrun.org/; but i'll just link them directly from this post for convenience. Enjoy!

After the Graveyard

Standout Tracks:
// Ode to Then
// It is Good
// This Land pt. 1
// An Easy Place pt. 2

Clear Skies Over Black River

Standout Tracks:
// Leaving Black River
// Walking
// My Wall
// Beneath the Weeping Willow Tree

Oneohtrix Point Never // Rifts

Latest by Oneohtrix Point Never, and it's as blissfully addictive as "Memory Vague". I don't have any kickass videos to go along with it, but there are some floating around on the net. I feel like I could just listen to this album on repeat for the rest of my life. Dreamy new wave synth, in a nostalgic vision of the future as imagined by robots. It packs a hefty punch of equal parts euphoria and nostalgia. The file is a bit large, about 200MB, so I couldn't upload to mediafire. Zshare was much nicer about the shit ton of data i was uploading. Enjoy!

Standout Tracks:
// Betrayed in the Octagon
// Russian Mind
// Computer Vision
// Zones Without People

Oneohtrix Point Never // Memory Vague

A wave of blissful droning synths, mesmerizing samples, and a new age 80's view of the future. This shit is like the soundtrack to the dreams and nightmares of my youth. Found this band watching older vintage commercials and whatnot on youtube, and somehow came across this absolutely captivating video titled "angel". Found the name of the band in the comments and I've been listening since. Had to ask around to figure out which album angel was on though. But it was well worth it, this album is called "Memory Vague". Which also happens to be a DVD with trippy ass videos like the one below on them.

Standout Tracks:
// Angel
// Nobody Here
// Ships Without Meaning
// Unmaking the World

Gkfoes Vjgoaf // Magic Days

A very interesting name which i have no clue how to pronounce. The music however, speaks for itself. I recently checked out "Magic Days" his latest tape and was blown away. Beautiful ambient folk by a guy out in California. He releases his works on tape, but also uploads to mediafire. I've wanted to listen to more of his work, but I haven't been able to stop playing this damn album. Very relaxing and extremely enjoyable. So here is the link to Magic Days. (Taken off his myspace, more releases up for download there as well so check it out)

Standout Tracks:
// wind moves the clouds, the trees, the waves; i move the wind
// friend flashes
// slow burner
// this heart we glow
