Memoryhouse // These Days (Nico Cover)

"This was the first song Denise and I ever recorded together, about three or four months before memoryhouse became a dedicated project. It was a spontaneous recording done really late at night, but it had this indelible nervous energy that gave Denise’s voice that extra hint of vulnerability that underpins Browne’s yearning, despondent lyrics so well. These Days ended up being a thesis of sorts for us, whose lyrical themes would go on to figure heavily in our first song, Lately." - Memoryhouse blog
Active Child // She Was a Vision

Figured I'd post more to make up for my short hiatus. Just two tracks on this puppy, but DAMN are they good. They're coming out with a full length in June, and I for one cannot wait. This is some truly atmospheric chillwave/dream pop/ whateverthefuckyouwannacallit.
Standout Tracks:
// She Was a Vision
// Voice of an Old Friend
(aka all of them)
Hypermagic // Collected Recordings
Letting Up Despite Great Faults // Self-Titled
4/14/10
Candy Claws // In The Dream Of The Sea Life

Some absolutely beautiful music! I use the word "dreamy" far too often as i'm too lazy to expand upon what i'm talking about. But goddamnit, it fits motherfucker. This is some dreamy electronic shoegaze, and it's been blowing my mind.
// The Sun Is My Girl
// Not Strange Winged Snail
// Snowy Shores
// Starry Fighter Kite
4/13/10
Small Black // Self Titled

More dreamy electronic pop. Once again I find myself addicted. I've just been in the mood for this kind of shit lately. This band has received more plays than the other stuff i've posted recently, so I suppose that's an indicator of it's quality- if you happen to value my taste. I'd say if you download one thing from this blawg, let it be this album.
Standout Tracks:
// Midnight's House
// Kings of Animals
// Lady in the Wires
// Bad Lover
// Despicable Dogs
4/11/10
Millionyoung // Be So True EP
Millionyoung // Sunndreamm EP
M. Pyres // Consider Me, Ghost

Some extremely chill lo-fi post-folk music for ya this post. I meant to put this up ages ago, but never really got around to it. My posting has become real erratic, and it'll likely continue to be this way; don't make the mistake of thinking i'm done with this shit though. As long as I keep seeing downloads on the things I upload, i'll continue.
Standout Tracks:
// Title Track
// Loud Lights
// Imagists Complex
// A. Ocean_MJA
3/31/10
big spider's back // warped
1/19/10
the parasails // skylife
Dreamy, hazy, lo-fi tropical goodness from Matt Mondanile, the man behind Ducktails/the guitar player in Real Estate. He's created the musical equivalent of vaguely recalling a dream where your parasailing in calm warm weathers, careless and free.
Standout Tracks:
// Skylife 2
// Skylife 5
// Skylife 7
// Skylife 9
1/18/10
Secret Abuse // Ripeness

Blissful drone noise, that I can only describe as watching the world rip itself apart from afar while in the warmth of an opiate glow. My buddy over at Hell's Angels Book Club introduced me to them, and they are quickly becoming a mainstay in my daily listening habits.
Standout Tracks:
// Eagle Rock Hill
// Joyce
1/17/10
Washed Out // High Times

I'm running on the assumption that most people have Life of Leisure. Well this came out prior to the release of the 12" Life of Leisure. Pretty solid stuff, makes me damn excited to see what else this guy has in store. It's lovely lo-fi dream pop, a sort of blurred dreamy beach new wave sound enveloped in a thick mist of clean noise. Makes me long to be stoned senseless on a beach. Another one of those bands that instantly causes that feeling of nostalgia, like your listening to a missing piece of your past. Makes me miss New Jersey. Enjoy this shit:
Standout Tracks:
// Belong
// Olivia
// Good Luck
// Yeah
